Bike amp and speaker
Hi all i am building a 1off bike to get me to school and back home.
I currently have a motor on it powered with 3 12v sla batterys that have all been donated to me
I am going to put a speaker and mini amp on it.
It would need to be 12/24v and mono only and very small
Does any1 have a mini amp or speaker that they could post to me as i am only 14 and cant aford one as i dont get pocket money.

Re: Bike amp and speaker
Unless you really want to DIY, I don't think you will save any money vs buying some cheap Chinese stuff.
Why not just wear headphones and use an mp3 player.
Here's one for 13 bucks. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sylvania-S...inish/14005861
If you don't want to use headphones, spend another $13 for a battery powered speaker.

Nobody is going to hear the "thump thump thump" as you come down the street with this setup, but it will make a bit of noise, and considering your budget is basically nil, I'm at a loss as to another route that would cost less.

Re: Bike amp and speaker
as a daily bike commuter, I'd much rather be able to hear traffic, but maybe that is just me.

Id rather hear the traffic as you said randy but when im traveling sound gets drowned out by the wind and motor of i would have just used my phone.

Re: Bike amp and speaker
I love when people do off the wall stuff such as this. I have been pondering stripping down one of those kids trailers and fabricating a small system. Would 98% of the public think its pretty stupid? Probably but if its fun for you roll with it. I think if this is a commuter just get some headphones. Its bit dangerous for sure but your cheapest solution.
