B&C 21DS115

I might be slow or something, but I just saw that B&C has released a new 21", 21DS115.

Where does it fit in the B&C range compared to their other 21" designs?

Take the 21SW115 motor structure, and then replace the copper-wound coil with an aluminium-wound coil to facilitate more wire in the gap, and obtain a substantially higher Bl product as a result.

Hey Helge, we're kind of expecting this woofer to take over for the 21SW115. It has a four layer aluminum coil - aluminum so that it doesn't increase Mms too much, four layer so you get twice as many windings in the gap. The result is very high Bl for a relatively inexpensive motor, and it also has an improved suspension offering a little more excursion. The tradeoff is higher inductance, but in a subwoofer application it shouldn't matter. This should be a great driver for horn and direct radiator subs.
