I have a Soundcraft Spirit M12 mixer. Out of the blue the bargraph meter showing the master levels staying illuminated even when I have nothing plugged into the inputs.

When I press PFL on any of the input channels it act normally.

What could be the issue here?

So I unplugged the XLR outputs going to my new powered monitors the bargraph lights turned off. It turns out that the powered monitors are causing the levels. How the heck can they backfeed input through the outputs?

And now I plugged the xlr cable into the power link input instead of the mic input on the powered monitors and it resolved the issue. Posted my question to the forum too early. Sorry about that!

The Mic input on your powered speakers may be equipped with Phantom Power which is used to power condenser microphones. This is a DC voltage of 48V which could have been what the desk's meters were reacting to when it was applied to the desk outputs.
You've done the correct thing by connecting to the other input on the powered speakers.
