I think I picked up a trick I like from one of Ivan's other posts. The MOTU interface I got for my SMAART setup has basically everything you would ever want from a digital board built into that little box including fully parametric eq's, dynamics, and effects on each channel. I was having a hard time knowing if I actually had all the extras turned off on both of the channels I was using for measuring.

I setup a loopback test where I took both of the outputs with pink noise and ran them directly into both of the channels. After finding one of channels was actually 180 out of phase, I had a nice 0 line for both magnitude and phase, and zero for delay.

This may be old hat for some, but for some of the others starting out, I think this is a good starting point test to make sure you setup is ready to take measurements.
