Separate microphones are available for different groups of instruments (brass, percussion, strings, etc.), but universal models are also common. Most of these microphones are equipped with a holder that allows you to fix them optimally and not damage the covering or the instrument itself.
You're better off looking for special instrument mics or googling "best ASMR microphones," then you're sure to find something right for you. They are intended for studio recording of instruments and capturing their sound in live performances. Instrument microphones also come in dynamic, condenser, and ribbon (by signal conversion type). Ribbon microphones require special care, while condenser microphones require an additional phantom power supply (usually +48V).
