We lost another brilliant audio engineer. While few knew who Jack was, millions have benefitted from his product designs while director of analog engineering at Peavey for a few decades. Perhaps his most iconic product is the CS800 with over half a million sold and probably the majority of them still in use somewhere.

Jack had 30+ patents and was generous with his knowledge. Everybody lucky enough to know him liked him. He will be missed.

Good bye old friend.

Re: RIP Jack Sondermeyer 1939-2015

I recall stories of heated discussions between Jack and Hartley about the use of then-new higher current output transistors. IIRC eventually Jack was able to convince the boss that there was a future in solid state electronics and the rest is history.

Jack had his fingers on lots of products and designs over the decades and his influence will be felt for years to come.

RIP, Jack. Your efforts are appreciated.

Sounds like he accomplished quite a bit with his time here. I just sold off a CS800 that had taken a thoro beating but it was still running like a top. Thanks for the innovations.
