Shure QLXD Transmitter has lost gain

We have used this transmitter for years without issues - it has been a great mic. But a week or so ago it dropped volume dramatically one night (from when it was turned on, not in the middle of service). I have had to increase the gain on the receiver from +12 to +20 to get it back in the ballpark. There is also a low-volume hiss now on that transmitter and it does not have the same sound quality/clarity now.

I swapped out the mic to see if that was the issue and it wasn't. What else would you try? Do you think the transmitter is shot?

Update: Issue resolved. It was a bad mic.

I mentioned swapping out the mic in my initial post and it didn't help. It was a different type of mic, an over-the-ear mic and I did not set it up properly so the noise issue was still there.

Anyway, the new mic, WL184, works perfectly.
