Re: Suggestions for smaller SUBS??? After reading through the suggested subs and some other posts I'm thinking of going with an Active sub rather than passive for a few reasons. The Mackie 1400i doesn't have the best rep as a sub amp, an amp that WILL cut it is going to run a LOT more than I can sell the Mackie for (they go for $225-$350 here on CL) and it's one less pc of gear I need to haul. SBA760 is 94 lbs....and lifting nearly 100lbs up and down to the tailgate doesn't thrill me at all. LS720P is lower power than most, freq 40-150Hz RCF ART905AS is more than double the power of the LS720P and about the same weight and freq 40-120Hz The Yamaha DXS15 has the same bottom end as the DSR115 2-Way speaker. A local guy has a pair for $1400 but I could probably get them for $1200 and they are NEW....BUT..."used" in Yamaha's eyes so out of warranty. PRX618-XLF freq 39-93Hz...does it roll off too soon? Price is about the same as the ART905AS Any other Active Subs at $1k or less I should check out?
