S16 killing mics!? I have a 2 year old S16 connected to my X32 full. One year ago, my Bassdrum Mic (Sennheiser e602) connected to the S16 stopped working in the middle of a show. No pops, cracks or other noise – it just went silent. I replaced the mic with a Shure Beta52 which died in the same way a few months later. Since then I suspected the S16 to be the cause for the mic-dying and sent mic and S16 in for repair. The mic came back and the repair report stated “removed interruption on circuit board”. The S16 was sent to Behringer and they only tightened a screw of a xlr input jack. A few months later the Beta52 died again during a show. I wanted the shop to replace the S16 but they said that it is impossible for the S16 to destroy a mic and therefore only my Beta52 was repaired for the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] time. Only 1 week later (last weekend) 2 other mics connected to the S16 passed away (Sennheiser e945, Oktava Mk012). In summary there were 5 times a microphone passed away on my S16 during 1 year. This happened on different channels in different venues and with different ethernet cables (all with ethercons). Phantom power was only engaged on the channel with the Oktava mic. The X32 was the same all the time. Could it be a faulty S16? Did anyone have similar problems with it? I already ordered a RMA for the S16 at the shop and it will be sent to Behringer again.
