Yamaha LS9 parts

Re: Yamaha LS9 parts

Has anyone ever replaced the Dynamics and Pan rotary/encoder knobs on the LS9?

Have any tips?

Where would I buy such replacement parts? What are the part numbers?

I have replaced those. Yours get bumped?

Call Yamaha parts and they will get them right out. Was easy to get the parts.

The tricky things I found were
1) supporting the unit upside down and not breaking off more encoders. I broke 2 more on my first attempt. I cut some plywood to make a pair of cradles to hold the unit. I put felt on the part the touched the desk so as not to scratch it.
Take the screws out of the side rails and remove the rails.
Then remove the screws all around the bottom and remove it.

Below is a link to a thread I did when I had the problem. Some good pointers there.

After removing the bottom, take pictures of exactly how all the ribbon cables route are where they plug in. So easy to forget.

The encoders are on a single PC board though I think it was under another I had to remove first which had a bunch of the ribbon cables on - hence the photos.

It wasn't too bad though I must admit to holding my breath when I powered it back up. After it worked fine, it was time for adult beverages.
