Both recognitions are among the most coveted accomplishments bestowed upon equipment manufacturers in the musical electronics segment of the marketplace.
Part of the NAMM Foundation, this year’s TEC Awards program took place on Friday, January 24th during this year’s Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, California. The Royer Labs SF-2 Mono Ribbon Microphone was awarded the TEC Award in the category of Microphone Technology / Recording. Designed primarily for use on classical recordings and acoustic instruments, the phantom-powered SF-2 features a 1.8-micron, low-mass ribbon element (utilizing Royer’s patented direct-corrugation method) housed in Royer’s SF-series “cross-field” ribbon transducer. The system delivers extended high frequency response, increased sensitivity, and an extraordinarily natural sounding pick-up.
Equally notable, Royer Labs’ highly acclaimed R-121 Mono Ribbon Microphone was inducted into the foundation’s TECnology Hall of Fame. The TECnology Hall of Fame was established in 2004 to honor and recognize audio products and innovations that have made a significant contribution to the advancement of audio technology. Inductees to the TECnology Hall of Fame are chosen by a panel of more than 50 recognized audio experts, including authors, educators, engineers, facility owners, and other professionals. Products or innovations must be at least 10 years old to be considered for induction.
