This is an ugly indoor measurement, but it conveniently demonstrates the effect of raising the subwoofer bandpass gain on the crossover point. This is why it is important to align the phase slopes of both the mains and the subs for as far as possible on either side of the acoustic crossover point. 9dB of acoustic gain for the subs is nothing unusual.
