[ATTACH=CONFIG]198489.vB5-legacyid=8400[/ATTACH]After 17 years of working on creating a film that captures the story of the 1960s group of LA-based studio musicians known as The Wrecking Crew, the filmmakers of this music documentary are launching a Kickstarter campaign to raise the last $250,000 needed to take the long-gestating project over the finish line. The launch date is October 30.
Filmmaker Tedesco said, “When I first began this journey I had two things going against me – music documentaries had fallen out of favor with fans, and there was no such thing as crowd funding. Thankfully, both have changed. The film is finished. It’s not a start-up project, rather it is a way to pay the final licensing for the music and also to pay the American Federation of Musicians, which means the men and women who played on the songs featured in the film are paid.”
The famed group of L.A. studio musicians played with many of the 1960’s top artists, and performed on countless hits by The Beach Boys, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Sinatra, Sonny and Cher, The Monkees, Gary Lewis and many more. Tedesco’s father, Tommy, was one of the guitar players in the Wrecking Crew and the film is both an homage to him as well as a documentary of those days in music.
“I can’t wait for the world to be able to acquire the DVD of this film. I have conducted hundreds of screenings in theaters, schools and private events in the course of raising funds for this film. At every screening I do a Q&A and the question most on people’s minds is, ‘When will the film be available for purchase?’ Kickstarter will make that happen.”
