Midas’ new M32 and PRO1 Digital Mixing Consoles received the highly-coveted Pro Sound Web / Live Sound International “Best In Show” and “Reader’s Choice” awards respectively at this year’s NAMM show in Anaheim.
The groundbreaking M32 combines legendary Midas sound quality with advanced digital technology, future-proof 96 kHz capable open-architecture design and industry-leading 192 kHz ADC and DAC converters, creating a revolutionary mid-format live console. M32 features ultra-sleek styling, offering the user a truly luxurious mixing experience. High-end construction materials including carbon fibre and aircraft-grade aluminium provide unparalleled durability and strength, plus substantially lower weight than comparable consoles. The M32′s stylish and future-forward aesthetic, which comes from renowned Bentley interiors designer Rajesh Kutty, pays tribute to the luxury motorcar industry.
The M32 utilises award-winning Midas PRO Series microphone preamplifiers and custom-designed PRO Series motorized faders that are rated for 1 million life cycles – three times more than other leading consoles. Combining the best of classic British console designs with advanced technology, the M32 completely raises the bar for live sound mixing.
Taking the top honors in the Large Format Console category, the Midas PRO1 competed against the Allen & Heath GLD, DiGiCo SD9 Rack Pack, Roland M-480 and Soundcraft Vi6.
A standalone mixing system equipped with 24 local Midas mic inputs, the PRO1′s connectivity can be extended up to 96 I/O via 3 onboard AES50 ports. In addition to 40 primary input channels, the PRO1 also features 8 Aux Returns, all of which feature 4-band MIDAS parametric EQ and insert points. These can be used as returns for the internal FX processors or as additional mic channels, if sufficient mic inputs are available on the I/O hardware.
A total of 48 input channels have free routing to 27 phase-coherent mix buses, which comprise 16 user-configurable buses (mixes, subgroups or mix minus groups), and 8 matrix buses.
The matrix buses source from inputs, as well as groups, and so can be used as 8 additional Aux mixes (monitor mix and FX sends) which provides a total of 24 mixes (plus L, R & Mono) for monitor mixing duties. All buses can be linked as stereo pairs (except the mono bus).
“We’re thrilled that the Pro Sound Web / Live Sound International editors and readers selected the M32 and PRO1 for these prestigious awards,” said VP of Global Sales Shawn Watts. “They have their fingers on the pulse of the industry and know the history of the brand – and also that the quality must be there before the Midas name goes on. It’s especially gratifying to get these awards from the people who use them, and for the way they perceive Midas quality.”
The Midas M32 and PRO1 Digital Mixing Consoles are available at a suggested U.S. MAP of $4,999.99 and $8,999.00, respectively – and are covered by a 3-Year Limited Warranty Program.
