[ATTACH=CONFIG]198797.vB5-legacyid=9474[/ATTACH]Vancouver BC, It looks like Canadian death metal band Kataklysm, currently touring their latest release “Waiting For the End to Come”, might be waiting a while yet. They just wrapped up a veritable marathon of tour dates in Europe performing 37 shows in 38 days. A few days break and they have much more geography to cover with thousands of dedicated fans across the world awaiting their arrival to take in their special brand of “Northern hyperblast” death metal.
Kataklysm drummer Oli Beaudoin: “The band has a very busy schedule ahead for 2014, starting with a festival in Chile, then a US tour followed by a series of dates in Brazil. After that, we’ll hit open air festivals in Europe in June and July as well as many more dates.”
Shortly after the album’s release, it made the top 100 charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In fact, the band’s last five albums have experienced the same recognition. “The first single ‘Kill the Elite’ has had a really positive feedback from the fans indeed. We also had killer feedback for our new music video for our 2nd single “Elevate” which was shot in Serbia last summer. The new album has been said by many to be the band’s strongest effort in the last decade. The energy and heart we put into this album feeds itself from the continuous support provided by the fans and from the band’s will to take things up to a new level, blending both the raw, heavy and melodic signature sound of Kataklysm with a more extreme, complex and modern tinge.”
“The band has been active for almost 25 years now and still remains true to its roots and I think fans really dig this. We’ve evolved over time and members have become better song writers. We write songs that will remain a long time instead of only showing technical ability.”
While the European crowd might dominate the band’s fan base, Beaudoin’s personal favorite city to play is Bogota, Colombia. “People are really CRAZY down there. It’s the same kind of vibe the Beatles would have experienced in the 60’s! Way different than U.S/Canada/Europe, let me tell you.”
Kataklysm’s years of performing has taught the band to plan for the long haul..and to pack light. They recently picked up a couple Radial ProD2 stereo direct boxes.
