Cambridge, UK / 137th AES Los Angeles, 10th October 2014 – Audio Rents Inc. of Hollywood (CA) is the very first US customer to have taken delivery of JoeCo‘s new BlackBox BBR1MP Recorder. Two systems were delivered to the Hollywood-based pro audio rental company earlier this week and went out the very next day to provide a 48-channel recording system with integrated microphone preamps for live recording at Hollywood’s iconic Whisky A Go-Go club.
JoeCo’s BBR1MP Recorder is the latest addition to the manufacturer’s award-winning BlackBox family of Recorders and Players. The 24-channel, stand-alone, live audio recorder delivers all the standard BlackBox functionality, while featuring 24 high-quality in-house developed microphone preamps, operating at up to 24bit/96kHz, which are integrated into the recorder’s tiny 1U housing. Designed for both live and location sound recording, the BBR1MP offers a range of connection options, as well as optional user installable MADI and Dante interface cards, which can add 24 channels of MADI or Dante i/o to the unit. Fully controllable via JoeCoRemote for iPad, the new system includes the facility to set up individual mic pre channel parameters and create a monitor mix. It can also create a simultaneous stereo mixdown during recording.
A delighted Bob Burton from Audio Rents Inc says: “We were very excited when we saw the new BlackBox with mic pres at NAMM back in January. It provided an easy, compact solution for our customers who were renting two JoeCo’s as a 48-track recorder along with six 8-channel mic pres. We ordered a pair on the spot! The JoeCo’s are small, lightweight, easy to carry to the location, and occupy a small footprint when they arrive. We took delivery of our first two units on Tuesday afternoon, the first two in the country. By Wednesday they were operating flawlessly at the sound check, ready for that night’s performance. The first recording in the country! The guys (Luis Cardenas, production manager, and Leonardo Contreras, front of house mixer) were impressed by their performance and ease of use and they sound great!”
