Lawo will present IP-based audio, video and network solutions for theater and live applications in Frankfurt (Hall 8.0 / Booth B50). On show will be numerous Lawo products natively equipped with SMPTE 2022 and RAVENNA/AES67 demonstrated in a fully operational setup, including the new mc²36 console designed for live performance applications utilizing RAVENNA and MADI, as well as both V__line and A__line video and audio processing and routing devices.
The new mc²36 is a RAVENNA-based all-in-one mixing desk with a comprehensive feature set that covers theater, house of worship, live and install applications. It delivers Lawo’s high quality and reliability along with extensive routing options and flexible performance capabilities. Along with uncompromised sound quality from Lawo’s acclaimed mic preamps, it offers a powerful DSP micro-core with internal 512×512 port audio matrix and integrated I/O making this compact console ideally suited for even the most ambitious undertakings. Since it is natively equipped with RAVENNA/AES67 technology, the mc²36 integrates seamlessly into IP infrastructures, which is indispensable for evolving workflows in modern venues.
Also on display will be Lawo’s popular mc²56 and mc²66 consoles with a multitude of innovative features, including the acclaimed Lawo AutoMix, which automatically adjusts the levels of active and inactive microphones while keeping a constant ambient level. AutoMix minimizes background noise and crosstalk, reducing coloration and eliminating truncated sentences and late fade-ins—a uniquely useful function for panel discussions and live shows. In addition, Lawo will demonstrate mirroring of two mc²56 consoles. Especially useful in theater applications, this allows an mc² console to be temporarily placed in the auditorium to prepare and fine-tune the mix during rehearsals. Settings are automatically communicated to another mc² console in the control room so the first console can be removed and the show mix handled from the control room without disturbing the audience. As a result, more seats in the auditorium can be sold to customers.
Lawo will also introduce a cost-efficient and compact stagebox solution that expands the connectivity of the mc² console family. The mc² Compact I/O is a ruggedized 5RU stagebox connected via CAT5 or fiber (optional) that provides 32 Lawo-grade mic/line inputs, 32 line outputs, 8 digital AES3 inputs, 8 digital AES3 outputs, 8 GPIOs, 3 RAVENNA ports and a MADI (SFP) port. Rounding out Lawo’s extensive line of audio products and software solutions, the mxGUI with touchscreen operation offers remote control and offline management of all functions of Lawo’s mc² series audio consoles, including preparation of routing configurations and switching, which can be performed with intuitive touchscreen operation and will also be available for viewing and practical demonstrations live on the Lawo stand.
Tools for live video streaming over IP will also be on show and Lawo will demonstrate how they can be used as solutions to easily deliver video and audio to backstage screens or even offsite venues where ensemble and staff alike can view and monitor the on-stage performance. Both the V__pro8 and V__link4 offer a broad set of features for managing video signals as well as offering extensive audio handling capabilities while also positioning venues for transition from conventional baseband to IP-based network infrastructures. Presented for the first time in Frankfurt, the Lawo A__mic8 is the first family member of the new Lawo A__line product group. It is a RAVENNA-based, 1RU audio interface that provides 8 high quality mic/line inputs, 4 line outputs, 8 GPI inputs and outputs and is powered over Ethernet. The A__mic8 makes the perfect partner for acquisition of discreet audio sources and transmission over IP network infrastructures when combined with Lawo’s V_link4 broadcast production toolbox.
