Mendrisio, Switzerland / NAMM Show, Anaheim (CA.), 4th January 2017. This year’s NAMM Show offers musicians and engineers an opportunity to meet ARTHUR – Schertler’s new, high-quality modular mixer, which has its official North American premiere in Anaheim.
Designed for both live and studio use, ARTHUR is created from a choice of different Class-A input and output modules – Mic Input, Mic Input Ultra Low Noise and Mic Input x4 units, Yellow instrument input unit, Stereo Input unit, L/R Master, Aux Master and external Power-In units. These can be specified and assembled by the user (in any order and quantity) to form both compact and large-scale mixer configurations. Modules can be added, removed or re-ordered at any time to meet changing requirements.
The Schertler booth (#1282) will feature sample mixer configurations including a compact 3-channel live set-up for solo vocals and guitar (with microphone/instrument inputs and L/R output). Used in combination with Schertler’s TIM – a 600W (350+125+125) portable 2:1 PA system designed for use in small to medium size venues, this powerful, yet portable PA/mixer combination makes a perfect on-stage stage partner for a range of acoustic performance applications.
Show visitors can check out first-hand the process of selecting and assembling the different mixer modules to make customized configurations, from a simple vocal preamp for direct recordings or live performances where a vocalist manages his/her own sound, to jazz band configurations with mic and instrument inputs plus Aux Sends for stage monitoring and effects, right through to larger multi-channel configurations for studio recording.
ARTHUR’s unique design concept is matched by its high-quality electronic design. Featuring a complete absence of negative feedback (NFB) from input to output, all circuits are built using discrete Class-A components and pure high-voltage DC-amps (without any capacitors in the signal path), offering 30dB headroom and low noise, as well as unparalleled stability, warmth and transparency.
Sharing the limelight with ARTHUR will be Schertler’s family of latest generation acoustic instrument amplifiers: GIULIA Y (2-channel 50W); DAVID (3-channel 100W); JAM (5-channel 200W) and UNICO (5-channel 250W). Equipped with intuitive controls, these amps also feature Class-A preamps and No Negative Feedback for best possible sound quality. Models are available in a both wood finish for home/studio use and an anthracite finish for touring applications where a more robust exterior finish is required,

About the Schertler Group
Three companies, Schertler SA, SR Technology and Velvet Strings are at the heart of this innovative collaboration.
Founded in the early 1980s by bassist Stephan Schertler, Schertler SA has established a worldwide reputation for achieving the highest levels of accuracy in the reproduction of acoustic stringed instrument sound. The company’s research and development has focused on producing high-quality contact microphones and acoustic amplification systems. Schertler’s original approach to harnessing acoustic vibrations has resulted in a number of fundamental innovations, some of which have gained international patents. Current contact microphone ranges include the STAT, BASiK, Magnetico AG6 and flagship DYN P48 Series.
Between 2003 and 2011, Schertler launched its Classic and Deluxe series of compact amplifiers, with a range of models offering high quality portable stringed instrument amplification. The addition of the LaFaro amplifier for bass in 2012 represents the culmination of years of research to successfully amplify the sound of this complex instrument. Meanwhile, Schertler’s JAM line of guitar amplifiers has provided a global solution for portable, affordable sound reinforcement, quickly establishing itself as a market leader.
In 2012, Schertler acquired Italian manufacturer SR TECHNOLOGY in its entirety (the company was previously a subsidiary), in order to expand business into other market sectors. SR is dedicated to the development and production of high quality compact loudspeaker systems. Italian musicality combined with Swiss precision has formed the basis of the famous “SR Sound”; deep, decisive bass complemented by a soft, crisp mid range and perfectly integrated clear “highs”. The goal for all SR products is to combine transparency and musicality in an affordable product range, for live performance, home listening and installation, which does not compromise on sound quality.
As early as 1991, Stephan Schertler began to build quality strings for double bass that presented an alternative to standard steel ones. Amid a growing demand for his metal covered synthetic textile fibre strings, the Velvet Strings brand was born. The current range includes string sets for ‘cello and double bass, with strings for violin, viola and guitar soon to be available.
Schertler Group contact microphones and preamps are manufactured in Mendrisio, Switzerland, using in-house produced components. Acoustics amps are built in the Schertler Group manufacturing facility at Potenza Picena, Italy, developed in collaboration with the Group’s R&D offices in Switzerland and Italy.
Schertler Group products have become a first choice for live performances, broadcast and recording sessions, and we are proud to list some of the world’s major orchestras, ensembles and soloists as our ambassadors.
