iPad?

Re: iPad?

Yeah, I'm kind of trying to find a reason other than it being a cool-ass toy. Well, maybe since I think my iPod Classic fell out of my briefcase on the plane and I hate to buy another of the same ol' same ol'...but that's a bit of a stretch, considering my iPhone is about as good an iPod as any, and can serve in its stead.

I think this is finally the one I can justify, but not enough to drop $800 on it (and pick up another data plan). Maybe at the end of the summer.

I had one for two months. Bought it used and sold it for what I paid. I think as iOS matures it will get more useful, but between and iPhone and laptop it wasn't worth it. When I did have it, I just shared my iPhone data to the iPad ( via myfi, though personal hotspots were just enabled in iOS 4.3) so no data plan was needed.

I was actually looking into them as a restaurant POS system, which is part of how I justified the purchase. I guess it came down to not being able to use comfortably in public. I read several daily and weekly papers on my iPhone, and am writing this message through tapatalk on my phone. Even with the iPad I still used my phone way more. If I had a long subway ride or something that could change I guess, but I'm happy I sold the iPad when I did.

The new processor should enable some really cool apps, but I still might not use them until the iPhone 5 is released!

There are talks of an ipad3 being released in 6 months. All rumours, but could happen since everybody else is coming to market now with there versions of the ipad.
Blackberry Playbook, Motorola Xoom, Microsoft, etc....
I think I would rather have a tablet or a netbook.

Re: iPad?

Being a bit naive and new to Apple stuff (Verizon iPhone), I went to the closest Apple store yesterday to get that trrs to trs adapter so I could use the iPod function with my existing cables. This was 2pm on a Friday at a mall. The store was closed for any sales until a 5pm opening to sell the new iPad. Bummer! I mean, who closes their stores in a mall on a regular shopping day? There must have been a couple hundred peeps camped out waiting too!

Well, at least I got the cable at the Verizon outlet at the local warehouse store.

If you have ever been near an apple store at the time of the launch of products like the iPhone or iPad... that few hundred people camping out for the release quickly turns into a major cluster-fuck. After seeing it for myself a few times (not as a buyer... I'm not that nuts), I could not begrudge the staff the chance to close up shop for a few hours prior and get prepared for the inevitable.
