Eaw dx1208

Re: Eaw dx1208

I'm searching for a programmable DSP unit with RCA inputs, and this appeared.

http://eaw.com/products/dx1208/

Anybody tried it?

I've used soundwebs and Yamaha dme-engines in the past, but this unit has a better price point.
I have not used that particular unit but while it is programmable, it seems to be a fixed architecture unit and that is quite different than the open architecture approach of a SoundWeb or London. Instead of creating a custom system system configuration using a number of available processing blocks, the DX1208 seems to have predefined input processing and output processing separated by a matrix mixer. This is not nearly as flexible as an open architecture approach, for example if you wanted to create a submix within the processing that is then mixed with other inputs, you'd apparently have to create the submix as a matrix output and then loop the related physical output back into a physical input, you can't make that path internal to the processing. However, if the processing defined works for the application then it may be just fine.

Haven't used that one, but the symetrix 760 has RCA inputs (terminal block outs) and is quite flexible. Not sure how it matches up price wise to the eaw though.
