A good use for a Soundcraft EPM6

Re: A good use for a Soundcraft EPM6

Mike, is your cat drunk?

Hammer
Nah, she's plotting world domination (after her nap).
Those little EPM mixers are a classic demonstration of Soundcraft
"Spoiling the ship for a ha'pworth of tar"
Enclose the (switchmode) PSU in a totally unventilated space.
Use 85 degree (not 105 degree) capacitors everywhere...they dry out and cease to function.
One of those caps is responsible for stabilising the PWM controller chip.....which goes berzerk
+&- 16 volt rails go up to +&- 30 or 40 volts, phantom goes into the hundreds,
Chips die left, right and centre on the mixer, caps pop their tops.
Power supply self destructs killing most active components...........then...........
The fuse blows.
I always have at least half a dozen lying around, to rebuild in downtime, because they
are great for "bedroom producer" musician kids.
(In Soundcraft's defence, they are the kind of thing that nobody ever bothers to turn off
when not in use)
