When I was growing up my parents had a 60's era cherry stereo cabinet with radio/turntable. I would lay in front of it and read for hours. Later in the 80's when my Dad no longer wanted to move it from house to house, I acquired it, and was going to refinish it and replace the guts with more modern parts. Unfortunately, when I started to refinish it, I found out it was just plywood with the thinnest cherry veneer I have ever seen.
