The new website before it leaves the sandbox

I've spent a fair amount of time over the past year becoming proficient with Wordpress as a CMS for website design.

I've still got a fresh VPS to config for more optimum Wordpress page serving, but before I launch into that, I thought I would post a screen capture of the new site from my XAMPP sandbox. I'll follow up and let everyone know when it goes live.

I'd like to think this represents what is capable with Wordpress as CMS for commercial-minded websites. It is built on on a Themeforest theme. I've done custom CSS and all the image work, but the starting skeleton was an affordable purchase.

If you have any questions or feedback, please don't hesitate to ask.

PS, I've scaled the full size site to 800px wide for uploading, so the attached image is not full size.

I like it too, Phil, for the reasons Jeff stated, and I also like the sharp looking gray tones you use on the page.

The only questionable bit I see is the lower case font style you use for the LLC in your logo, which makes it both a bit vertically droopy and horizontally compressed.

Hope married life is treating you well!

The true colors are closer to black, but somehow GIMP's color space from a screencap causes it to turn grey.

I changed the logo header to provide more letter spacing, and I re uploaded it with the additional dark space. That came after running it by my designer friend yesterday. The result should be more to your liking.

Re: Live site and quick site configuration rundown

I had mentioned that I would reply back when the new site was live. It is now running, but the content is still somewhat sparse. Regardless, feel free to have a look around at the new WordPress-based passband website

Since I know there are few computer guys around these parts that care about such things, here is the brief rundown on how the site is hosted/configured. If you have any questions about any of the bits, or want more detail, feel free to ask.

www.passbandllc.com
-LEMP stack on a Linode 512mb VPS
-Ubuntu 11.04
-PHP 5.3.5 with APC Opcode cache and php5-fpm
-MySQL 5.1 (a memory pig even with config tweaking)
-nginx 1.0.4 with php fastCGI

-Wordpress 3.1.3
-Complexity 2.2.1 WP theme from themeforest.net
-Misc WP plugins
-W3-total-Cache 0.9.2.2 caching plugin with opcode caching using APC

-Cloudflare for nameservers/spam filtering/analytics/static page caching/etc. - a very cool service so far
-Google apps for email/calendar/docs/analytics infrastructure

PageSpeed and YSlow scores are currently both 85/100. I am having a couple issues with minifying javascript. Hopefully I can sort that out and improve these performance metrics a little bit more.
