Sennheiser 945 vs. 845

Re: Sennheiser 945 vs. 845

Female voice, I prefer the e845(or e935). Male voice, I prefer the e945. The e845 doesn't have as much "air" to it IMO, and some would describe not as "clear" sounding.

The 900 series in general sounds a lot better than the 800 series. The 835 is completely useless, IMO, while the 935 is a great sounding mic. However, I use e945's on all my vocals and absolutely love them. Blows a 58 away.

Evan, how about e945 vs an OM6?

Regards, Jack

If I may.

Audix OM6 has that "Audix boxy thing" going on around 800Hz-1kHz. Sennheiser e945 is more "shrill" around 3-5kHz.

The Audix has a built in low-cut filter at 100Hz.

e945 sounds better at a distance or from the side, although not great. It is a more "detailed" mic.

The grill of the e945 seems to look better after some heavy use over time, although you'd think the opposite.

The OM6 provides more GBF in both mains and monitors, both at lower and higher frequencies.

Both sound really bad when "cupped".

The OM6 sounds cool on electric guitar, as well 8)~~.

Re: Sennheiser 945 vs. 845

I'm an OM6 and OM7 user and yes the OM6 does that mid thing going on, still a good sounding mic with a little love. The OM7sounds better from the get go and works great if the performer has good mic technique. Both are great in monitors. For the past couple years I have really liked the Audio Technica AE6100, sounds better than the OM6's and 7's not quite as forgiving in monitors though but still very good.

Reason for this post is that recently I replaced the 865 elements in my G2's handhelds with the 945 elements. The 865's sounded good but seem to be picky on who they sounded good on. The 945 has been spot on in the 5 times they have been used since the swap out. I think it's time to get some wired 945's to go along with the wireless ones!

It never ends!!
