FYI, this is a known problem.
They came out with a newer version that has a stronger globe

Had one of the nuts that holds the globe onto the back plate come loose inside one time. The rattling was annoying so I chose to open it up. Once it was determined which hardware removed the globe, and which held the actual antenna coil to the backing plate, the process wasn't too bad.
It does appear that if the whole unit is banged around too much that the plastic 'spacers' inside which hold the antenna coil in it's optimum position will break.
To anyone who hasn't seen the Sennheiser innards...Picture a coil similar to the one in the Shure HA-8089 except the coil is larger at the baseplate and narrows as it moves upward. It looks similar to an igloo. I did not take photos unfortunately.

If it's only a crack not compromising the structural integrity of the mounting of the dome to the back plate, and aesthetics are not an issue, a glue designed for polycarbonates, or black silicone sealant will provide strain relief and moisture resistance to the damaged area without affecting RF performance.

If it's only a crack not compromising the structural integrity of the mounting of the dome to the back plate, and aesthetics are not an issue, a glue designed for polycarbonates, or black silicone sealant will provide strain relief and moisture resistance to the damaged area without affecting RF performance.

Sometimes the cracked dome is from quite a blow destroying the element, the supports and the dome. All that's left of the original antenna is the base plate, connector and mounting block. All current A5000's are built with substantially stronger element supports and domes. Original domes depressed 1 inch with 17 pounds. Version 2 required 65 pounds. Current version requires 170 pounds of force to depress the dome 1 inch. I would be surprised if Sennheiser charged $400 for just a dome replacement.
