I was in Chicago a couple days this past week and couldn't help to notice the system in Millennium park most notably the spider web of structure and cables supporting the delay fills. Is that a city owned and operated system or a leased from a provider for the summer season. Unfortunately there were shows going on when I was there. The chrome bean in the park was cool to!

I used to live two blocks from Millennium Park and never got to see a show there. The rig that's there is fully installed and not out for the season. I don't know who "owns" it, but we can just call it the park's for simplicity's sake.

Talk about weather proofing if all of that rig is up year round in Chicago!
I knew it would be a complex system with all of the delay fills but after reading about
the LARES configuration that takes it to a completely higher level.
The main arrays look like EAW 700 series boxes not sure about the fills.

In my original post I meant to say:
"Unfortunately there were NO shows going on when I was there"

I watched them build Millenium Park, have seen 30 or so shows there, and ran 3. Before I heard my first show there I worried that this big stick approach was going to sound terrible. In practice, it works rather well as long as you arent moving too fast through different coverage areas. Walking through the crowd reveals odd changes as you leave one area and arrive in another. However, this isnt how you watch a concert, and standing in one general area generally sounds very good, and always seems to be a reasonable loud without needing earplugs volume. Its a neat design and in practice feels like a success (some locals audio engineers I know disagree with me).

Don't know why adam thinks the delay fills are branded that. They Say EV on them. I must also say the three amp rooms I have seen there are pretty impressive, but the Crown failure rate for the last few years is pretty obnoxious.

I have mixed many a monitor there a couple of years ago, and love the place well. The mic inventory is something to DROOL over. Shoepps EVERYWHERE> Yum. Every mic a drum kit with a full Shoepps Package? Yup it rocks.

I was just reading the artcile... "LARES LCF-599 loudspeakers are both aimed down at the audience and aimed in from the sides of the trellis." I don't know that I've actually looked at the delay/surround speakers when I've been there.

I'm surprised they would let a DJ work in the IB jurisdiction lol

Yes , Teamsters load it, Local 2 push it and move it, 134 Plugs it in and runs it. A special place indeed.
Local 2 gets all the hotels and conventions. The 134 SJ card (sound journeyman) is for highly skilled sound
professionals. Its seasonal, but I love it. Started off over 7 years ago at 19 bucks an hour, now Full A rate this last year.
