Replacing aged SRM450s - recommendations?

Re: Replacing aged SRM450s - recommendations?

The SXA360 is still in production, and cheaper than it used to be. Most bang-for-the-buck in the U.S. is definitely the current version RCF ART312A.

The problem I see with the SXA360 is the design of the heat fins on the back of the speaker. They stick out awkwardly making transportation less desirable. The fins catch on everything if you're not careful.

SXA360 looks like a good compromise. It is marked on my 2011 dealer list as "to be discontinued soon" but I wouldn't be averse to snapping up a few before they go. I wonder if covers could be used to mitigate the heatsink fins?

Re: Replacing aged SRM450s - recommendations?

I just ordered four RCF NX 12 SMA, I will report back when I get them (they're backordered about 6 weeks). They're probably a bit more pricey than the OP wants to spend.

PS - this is Silas Pradetto - not sure why I'm logged in under Adrian (company laptop?).

The SXA360s I have had in stock had no fins. Maybe you are thinking of the FBTs, which definitely will cut you up.

Hello Stuart.

We have recently had to do exactly the same soul searching. Our winner by far was the JBL Prx range, with the QSC's a close second.

Cheers

I'd toss the Yorkville NX series in for consideration. Don't know how they price in Scotland.
