Have the little gnomes build them. It is getting more difficult to find robust DIN connectors though. We use DIN at the device but much of the other distribution via CAT5/RJ45 with 9451 installed in racks or raceways.
For quickie stuff or th band instruments we've had good luck with the moulded end Hosa from Sweetwater.

I've had good luck with Planet Waves brand.
If you're going to purchase Hosa I'd definitely go with the metal connectors rather than the molded plastic ends.

What kind of length are you talking about? I've never really given attention to the short cables I use (less than 6 feet). Anything longer than that gets adapted to XLR and run over standard mic cable or mult.

Ive had luck with local computer stores having DIN cables for dirt cheap. They were $1 each and were nice ones with metal connectors. They had them in the clearence bin and hadnt heard of MIDI
