No - saw the link on another web site when I was surfing instead of working like I was supposed to be.
I can't imagine the surprise of having one of my five senses engaged after 29 years of its complete or near absence. Imagine one of the other senses being switched on in your 29th year - touch - smell - taste - sight. It must have been a mixture of joy and something approaching fear.
It would be a completely different kind of surprise than we're used to - something with little or no prior conditioning - I think I had a similar experience when I fell in love. Death might be like that too.

Not to be debbie downer... but is this confirmed? Her speech seemed very articulate for someone who has been deaf for 29 years....

Not that it's proof, but right after Langston posted the link the same story appeared on the news here. I don't know how thoroughly they checked their facts but I'd be kinda surprised if they posted a hoax.
