I liked Craig Leerman's position on the role of "The Basement". The issue came up after a thread about home theater was deleted. He basically said that the forum is a community, and though it was appropriate for community members to discuss home theater equipment in the basement, the LAB isn't a home theater board, and someone who specifically joined the LAB to talk home theater was in violation.

I guess I'm OK with someone registering to make a post to sell something if they sell through the forum; for just a pointer to an EBay listing from a first time poster, I vote SPAM - the marketplace is for community members.

I always felt offer it on the marketplace first. Then if it does not sell post a link to the ebay auction in case someone missed the original listing. To sign up just to post some gear I would prefer a list desirable stuff at blowout pricing :twisted:
 
I'm trying to determine if this user is a spammer, as our software thought, and should be reported and deleted, or if they may be OK but their post is not. I guess I'll wait and see if they post something else questionable, or PM me and indicate they are human.
