And for today's TMI moment.. Fitty was on TV yesterday and shared how that name affectation came about.. It was from Ozzy Osborne's heavy brit accent version of fifty.

That looks nice. It would also change as the weather changes (provided you continue to set it).
My issue with most regular thermostats is that when it gets to be about 50°F or below outside, then the thermostat really picks up and it gets too hot indoors. Or otherwise, above 50°F outside - but not much warmer, then temp of the house drops, yet the thermostat doesn't kick on, and I get a chill.
So a digital thermostat with both indoor and outdoor probes might be a good solution too. I am sure someone has thought of that by now...

It's interesting to see how 2 of the guys who created the first ipods are involved in the design of this as well. Reinventing the wheel, so to speak.

Warning Day Job talk, interesting device, though it hasn't got any outside sensors that I can see so it may be caught out by a sudden weather change, predictive thermostats and the like have been around for years, that one is nicely packaged and the WIFI capability is cool. Best way to save heating bills is to have a comprehensive control system and an efficient heat/cooling source, I'm guessing that in the US air blower systems are still the main type of heating systems over here we tend to use wet systems with radiators around the various spaces in the property which then allows us to easily control individual rooms with thermostatic valves on each heater. Some of the better boilers are reaching 90+% efficiency now which can lead to a big saving compared to older traditional systems. G

Honeywell and White-Rodgers have had something to the effect of this device for some time. It's really not "new" technology.
Both of these companies have systems that can be controlled via Wi-Fi. They are considerably more expensive.
Pretty good idea, though. Very cost effective on the front end.
