I am thinking about changing consoles from an SC48 to either an SD11 or the Midas Pro2C. I'm weighing pros and cons of each, and one of the question marks on the Midas is what the effects the acquisition of Midas by The Music Group will have on customer service and build quality. I was pretty much dismissing this, as my SC48 is made in China and has worked flawlessly for me, but I just went to go to the Midas website http://www.midasconsoles.com/, to find that it has expired. I own several web domains, also through Go Daddy, and they give you many opportunities to renew your domain before shutting it down. Is this an overreaction on my part or an indication of how things are working (or not) at that company?

I'm having a hard time getting in contact with anybody at Midas about parts right now. Those guys used to be super-responsive, now I'm not able to even get a call-back from my voice mails at the official tech support number.

We finally got some action by complaining to our reps - an email that should work is [email protected], at least I've been talking to them with that address. Parts backordered from England, though. :(

"Gosh, I don't know how your voice mails got lost, our system sometimes gets wonky".

There have been distribution and support restructuring here in the USA, from what I heard from Jay, this whole shake-up was so service/support would be even better. We waited out the whole Behringer dust settling, and are now satisfied and ready to jump in with the Pro series.

Three months ago I made a call to Midas NA and within the hour the product specialist specific to my (discontinued) product called back...with circuit diagrams in hand. I didn't send the desk off for rehab as the DIY repair has proven reliable. Sure felt like service had their ducks in a row enough to put me in touch with the foremost expert on the continent regarding my product.

i'm actually happy to hear that in most cases things are still running smooth in service land with midas. i had heard a few negative things, but i hoped that with a little time to get their feet back under them they'd work out the kinks.

it's such a great brand with such a great history i was really hoping that the B-word acquisition wouldn't undermine that. and for the record, i'm not bashing B-word specifically. it's just that acquisitions of smaller high end companies by larger, more diversified, ones often lead to an erosion of that excellent smaller company's products and services. i'll continue to hope that doesn't happen to 'the golden ones'...
