Got something that you like?

I've got an upcoming (and often other) event(s) that the client wants me to supply some dance floor lighting for.

Looking for a (maybe 4?) moving solution that I might be able to put on a stand (or on top of a speaker) on each corner of the dance area.

It'd be in a smallish hotel ballroom.

GC is spec'd just for convenience of a local buy. I could go elsewhere, provided delivery (to Boston area) would be in the next week.

Thanks!

You Do It Electronics is a Chauvet dealer, with a decent selection (although I don't know how much they stock). They also have quite a few fixtures out on display.

That said, I've never really looked at the flash'n'trash DJ fixtures, so can't offer any real guidance in that area, other than that most of them are rather underwhelming if the room is lit by anything else.

The Revo's are cool for a hot minute BUT you'll quickly tire from the 'dots'.

I just purchased a couple of Chauvet Intimidator 150 LED moving head lights for a small club I spin at. They weigh about 14 lbs. each and are surprisingly bright and very small. Their patterns are crisper than my Martin SCX700 scanner patterns and they seem almost as bright (I have yet to do an A/B comparison). $399 each.

The difference between a scanner and a moving head are huge its like comparing behringer to danley. A scanner uses a mirror. A mover uses a lens. That said chauvet is a better choice for the low end movers.

Except that even the cheapest scanner will be faster than most moving-head units. Pro scanners have mostly disappeared because modern moving heads are almost as fast, just as bright, and significantly more versatile, not because of any inherent technological advantage (aside from range of motion). Older pro-level scanners can still keep up with modern movers if the range of motion is limited (for example, many permanent installations).
