Anybody using the Ultimate Pro-SB stands?

Well, I need to upgrade my mic stands. I've been using Ultimate MC-87's for a long time and almost all the rubber feet have pulled out of the bases and the clutches are starting to mes up. I've been interested in the Ultimate Pro-SB for some time.

I've never used one. I looked over a Pro-SB in a local Guitar Center one afternoon and I loved the feel of the clutch. The "quarter turn clutch" was nice. One of the things that got on my nerves about the MC-87's was the feel of the clutch. It could be hard to turn with sweaty hands.

I was also disappointed with how quickly the rubber feet would work their way out of the MC-87 base. So I turned the Pro-SB upside down to take a look at how the rubber feet were seated into the base. I pushed on them and I bet I could've pushed the rubber feet right out of the base if I tried harder.

So, to those of you who own Pro-SB's, what do you think of these stands?

Have you had any problems with the clutch at all?

Have the rubber feet come out of the base?

Any other problems or issues?

Thanks for your help!

Re: Anybody using the Ultimate Pro-SB stands?

I have no experience with the Pro-SB model, but I have tried the Tour-T stands, and recommend not getting those. They are super heavy (over built in the wrong sense of the word), already had 1 clutch break, and the shaft does not slide down to fit in a road case on the tripod leg version like a K&M would (if that makes sense).

Haven't used those, but both On-Stage and K&M make similar products, and I think even the K&M version is cheaper. I've found the top-end On-Stage stuff to be fine for normal shows, and the K&Ms I've had for many years now are literally still perfect. K&M has absolutely fantastic factory (actually US Distributor) support.

I got one similar with a boom. The difference in the one I got was the base is solid with no stackability. I like it just fine and have used it mostly on the money channel mic.Looks good with the Line6 V70 mic on it. It's really hefty. I got it at the "center" right after Christmas for $59. Great price for a stand with boom.

My only problem with this is I cannot find another one.
