36mm / 1 7/16 inch speaker stand adapters

Anyone know of a simple speaker stand adapter, sleeve what ever you want to call it that will take either 1 3/8 up to 1 7/16 / 36mm or take 1 1/2 down. I have some RCF 312's that the internal pole mount socket is too big for 1 3/8 and too small for 1 1/2 inch stands. It measures 1 7/16 or call it 36mm.

The local muffler shops can't reduce an 1 1/2 inch tube or expand the telescoping insert up, most they could do is take 1 1/2 inch and expand it. I going to check a couple fabricating shops that do tubing work. As a last resort I thinking of having a couple of inserts turned out of aluminum, one end would fit inside the 1 1/2 inch tube, with the other end turned slightly smaller to 1 7/16. That would replace the telescoping adapter that is supplied with the Ultimate stands. Gaff tape on the 1 3/8 tube would cut it either for this!

Exactly what I was going to recommend. They work great, keep things from wobbling around for sure.

There are a couple local metal fabrication shops that some what specialize in tubing work. If they can't swage down the 1 1/2 tube to 1 7/16 or expand the inner telescoping 1 3/8 up to 1 7/16 I'm going with the K&M rod. I figure I can cut it in half and and use each end as the telescoping insert adapter.

I own and highly recommend these from K&M.

No cutting or customization needed, and they let you aim the sound where you need it. The best of both worlds, I think.

I've never noticed any problem with the RCF cabinets fitting a standard 1 3/8 pole, but if your ART312 is a little loose isn't there a thumbscrew to tighten the fit?

Yeah, I just checked one of mine (same as OP) here that’s on a regular stand and it has just a bit a little extra space, which I don’t see as a bad thing when sticking a speaker on a stand/pole.

Its balance is also such that it leans forward, not enough to be significant or noticeable, but at least it’s in the right direction, haha.

Certainly nothing i'd worry about.

Re: 36mm / 1 7/16 inch speaker stand adapters

They just seemed to sloppy and wobbly to me, if I were personally using them and wrap or two of gaff would be fine. These are part of small package I sold to a customer so it needs to a be little more permanent than tape. The thumbscrew would help but it would chew up the pole over time. I have one of the K&M 21360 distance robs on order. When it comes in a quick trip through the band saw and a hole with the drill press for a locking pin will convert it to the slip in adapters.

Re: 36mm / 1 7/16 inch speaker stand adapters

Doublecheck before you do any cutting, as I think the ring-lock poles are larger than 1 3/8" tubing.

The specs for it looked like 1 3/8 was the minimum size it would go down to so I "assumed" that was the poles outside dia. Someone needs to make a simple plastic sleeve to slide over a 1 3/8 tube to step it up to 1 7/16 36m. It's always the simple things that get complicated!!!

Hi Mike,

Instead of sleeving up the pole, how about a bit of sheet Aluminum formed into a cylinder and glued in the speaker pole socket?

Thanks and good health, Weogo
