Hi all,

I'm on the hunt for a low to mid priced USB audio interface with 2 Mic ins and 2 line outs. It needs to be able to supply 48v and would be nice if it was bus powered. Line outs would ideally be on XLR. I'm looking to spend up to £300 (approx $450 US). I've seen the sound devices USBPre, and although perfect, it's out of my price range! I can't seem to find any others with XLR out. Any suggestions?

Cheers

Re: Mid priced USB audio interface

Finding any interface with XLR outputs for under $500 USD is going to be challenging. Most I have seen are 1/4" TRS. For $100 USD more, you could get the Rational I/O, and it definitely has XLR inputs and outputs, supplies phantom power, and is bus powered. It works great with Smaart 7. Full disclosure, I'm an instructor for Rational Acoustics.

When I don't have my touring rack (Roland Octacapture) with me I carry M-Audio Mobile Pre for use with Smaart for 2 channel measurements. It's simple and I'm pretty happy with the portability. The line out's are 1/4" but a few adapters will fix that conundrum. USB interfaces have come along way in the last 12 years when they first came on the scene.
