JBL Vertec V5 with VT4888s

All I'm going to say here is that they sound awesome.

I ran 4/side ground stacked at a recent event and I was thoroughly impressed with the sound. No EQ required other than a high shelf to combat the HF since the array was so short, and a bit of a cut around 100 as there was some serious buildup there from the overlap with the subs.

The rig was also comprised of 8 SRX728S in a kind of sub array - 2 per side as the bases for the ground stacks and 4 downstage center separately powered and processed. With some delay and such the bass coverage was excellent with no power ally.

Major con: Since V5 uses FIR and the provided settings are at 96k, I can't use Cobranet with V5! I asked JBL if they could make 48k presets so I could use them with Cobranet and they said to 'use AES'. Really nice :x~:-x~

Yeah, JBL really got it right with V5. V4 was good, V5 is even better. I mixed on 10/side of the 89's over the summer with the V5's, and was blown away with the added HF detail. The annoying 8k spike on V4 was gone, and the whole top end was really smoothed out nicely. I still did a few of my usual JBL cuts, but I was very impressed. Mixed on 14/side of the 88DP's, and had equally impressive results. Good sounding presets for sure!
