What is a good source for power distribution accessories such as "rackmount" panels and "rackmount" 30 and 50 amp twist-lock plugs that fit into them such as would go into a power amp rack? I checked out audiopile's powercon stuff but it looks like 20 amps is the largest they have.

Re: Good Source for Power Distro Accessories?

How much current do you think would be necessary at 120 Volts for a rack containing: (3) Crest Pro 9200's (1) Crest Pro 5200 (1) VSX 26? I'm thinking that a single 30 amp circuit with Hubbell 30 amp connectors at the rack and distro ends would probably do it. What say others?

Given that a single 9200 can pull 30A at 120V by itself, I'd say that those racks would be best served by a 50A split-phase supply, such as a "California" connector. Put 2x 9200 on one hot leg, and the rest of the gear on the other hot leg.

Re: Good Source for Power Distro Accessories?

Just ordered some Rack Pack's with 50 Amp california connectors from the amp shop. The guy told me the easiest way to interface them with my home-made distro would be just to put "range" plugs on the distro end.

That may be the cheapest way. I don't know about best or "up to code" way. Personally, I would just use cali connectors to mate with your distro. Only have range plug adapters if that's the only power source that you can easily get access to.
