Creating a touring Wireless Rack, help please!

I am looking currently looking into the purchase and creation of a wireless system for a touring children's show.

I need about 8 channels of wireless mics, and am just curious about any and all input individuals here might have. My current desire is to go with the Shure ULX system, with Countryman over ear headsets. I would also be considering a power distribution unit, as well as an antennae distribution.

Shure markets a combined power and antennae system, (UA844) which i am considering. aprox. $499 (for four channels of power distro and antenna distro)

I was hoping to use receivers and packs from the ULX line, but they are looking quite expensive. I need to be able to rack mount for touring, as well as have touring durability, but of course on a budget. How well do other wireless systems compare (Line 6, AKG, Audio-Tehnica, Sennheiser, Lectrosonics)? I know very little about wireless systems outside of the Shure line, and am very open to suggestions, and advice. Just as a note here, I will mention that sound quality is important however perfection is not expected. (the characters sing over top of a recorded track, for a children's audience).

The countryman over ear microphones seem to be the standard in the current rigs being used, however if there is a suitable similar style microphone, please do suggest!

My plan is to also tour with a digital board, and the PreSonus 16.0.2 is my preferred option currently, as it has the best price for the most options, but also an appropriate size input panel. (commentary and input here is also appreciated)

Thanks in Advance

Lectrosonics offer the Venue Series which is a 6-Channel receiver in a 1U chassis. This becomes cost effective on a per channel basis when compared to other high quality systems, but you would require two units to have 8 channels (not so cost effective anymore).

DPA also offer high quality earsets which are also quite popular.

how long is the tour?
you might want to think about resale value more than anything. if you get decent money back at the end of the tour who cares how much they cost?
with that in mind I would skip the ULX and move up to at least something with metal transmitters. these won't show their age nearly as quick.

Akg wms 450.

This stuff is getting discontinued and is on blowout for cheap. Like $200 per system cheap. Harman says they only have 50,000 systems left.

If you want the over-the-ear mics cheaper than Countryman or DPA, check out Microphone Madness. I have a couple of the MM mics and have beaten them to death with no issues. They still sound great. In fact, I'm using them with WMS450 systems with no problems. For $300 per system complete you can't go wrong. The WMS450 may lack enough frequency agility to run much more than 8 systems at once, but I think you'd be fine.

(sales hat on) Also - I know a guy that sells both the WMS450 and the Presonus boards - hint hint. (sales hat off)
