XTi presets for the ol' JBL SR4732X?

I have a friend with a set of these tops and a Crown XTi4000. I downloaded Band Manager 2.0 to see if there are presets for these older boxes. But alas you can't get to those libraries without the amp actually connected to the software (probably because the presets live in the amp firmware). I wanted to confirm they're actually there and that there are both full range and bi-amp versions before I start helping him out. For now he'll run the tops passive full range with the XTi4000, but the goal will be to add a XTi 1000 to that and bi-amp them later.

Thanks,
Greg

Greg, if you use System Architect you can load the device file and then load a preset. I've got SA 2.3 on this machine and there are no presets for the SR (non-X) series. JBL publishes a PDF http://www.jblpro.com/catalog/support/getfile.aspx?docid=487&doctype=3 that look to be for a pre-DriveRack processor. Contacting JBL might be in order; they've been good at providing custom files for oddball combinations but I can't guarantee they support discontinued products in this fashion.

Thanks Tim. I'll check with JBL. No biggy doing it by hand of course though.

Make sure you're using a preset designed for the device you're using. Pre-iTech HD Harman DSPs are a total crap shoot in terms of filter definitions.

Yep. The link I posted is very generic in its settings. I'm pretty sure I've seen mention of custom settings from JBL for exactly the combination Greg is asking about but I'm not able to find a reference to them now.

Re: XTi presets for the ol' JBL SR4732X?

There are no preset files but as stated earlier JBL has a PDF somewhere with guidelines. Ill see if I have a copy somewhere.
I bi amp my 4732-Xs with an XTi4000 on the 12s and an XTi2000 on the 1.4" horns and they sound every bit as good as they did when I was running a DR260 & QSC RMX2450s.
Mine are "modded" though. We got tired of replacing the diaphragms in the bullets so we just pulled the crossovers altogether and run them as straight up 2 way mid/hi boxes. I made some EQ changes to JBL's recommendations to try to compensate for the loss of the ultra hi end. They don't have the sizzle that they did with the bullets (and they never will) but it really isn't missed when you consider that you never heard that sizzle more than about 25' out...

So now you effectively have the SR4731X.

I have attached settings for the 4731.
