[TECH] Systems tech and sound engineer wanted in CT

Silas Pradetto

Graduate Student
I'm getting more and more calls and it's getting to the point where some days I'm triple booked or more. I have a lot of people that are good at setting up gear, but I'm essentially the only one that can tune a PA with Smaart and then put together a solid mix on the rig.

My company does things the 'newfangled' way. We run networks for audio and control of various things, we use as much digital audio as we can, digital snakes, Cobranet, Crown IT-HD amps, etc. So if you're the kind of guy that likes technology, we'll like you.

Probably the one requirement is that you have a Smaart rig and can phase align subs to tops.

Home base is in CT but shows range from Maryland to Maine, with a majority being in the NYC and MA area.

If someone wants to start a good working relationship with a couple events a month, contact me and we can set something up.

I'm bumping this. Still need people.

There are some things I can teach, and others that I simply can't. So here's my revised list of job duties:

  • Drive box trucks or vans comfortably, especially in the city (no CDL required)
  • Operate Smaart for the main purpose of phase alignment of subs/tops/delays (we can provide the Smaart rig)
  • Direct the setup and operation of an entire system: essentially, be in charge
  • Mix any kind of music that gets thrown your way

You must have your own transportation, and be OK with meeting at the shop in Columbia, CT before and after shows.

The best way to respond to this would be to email [email protected] so we can set up an interview.

I am available for one weekend in October currently. It might help if you indicate what you're willing to pay. :D

P.S. Graham Mellor is in Rhode Island and has worked for me a few times, I recommend him.

Bennett, if you were available I'd pay your rate. But hopefully I could find someone cheaper :)

One perk about living in RI is that we basically have very little gun laws in the way of possessing a gun. As long as you purchased it legally, there are no rifle or shotgun permits. You have to have a Hunters safety card or Bluecard to purchase a handgun, and have a permit to carry if you wanna carry on your person in public. Aside from that, case you gun separate from your ammo, unloaded, and drive around town.

No permits for long guns in CT either, just be 18 and pass a background check to buy one.

I have a small selection, as well as a place to go shooting, if you and Bennett want to go sometime.

In fact, we are so stubborn, it's a state law that no government agency or political subdivision shall keep a list or register of privately owned guns. Bennett, you moved to the wrong state.
