Cleaning out the files. Found this from the time Motörhead played the club in SF. It's a scan of a fax so the quality is what it is.

A few observations.

Note that the monitors "must not be limited in any way", except perhaps by the laws of physics or thermodynamics.

Someone really did not like Meyer subs, probably because their processor "limited" them.

Less than a week later I did a show at San Simeon for over a thousand people with the 16 member R&B/Funk cover band I worked for then with pretty much the same speaker compliment that Motörhead required as monitors for that 600 capacity club. Actually a bit less, i only used two of the sidefill/drumfill stacks for the FOH speakers and only 10 wedges, not 15.

Re: Like it's 1999...

Well, Motörhead pretty much equals Loud. Still remember my friend Matt Snyder telling the story of doing Motörhead somewhere in the DC area. The wedges that were used were custom JBL 15" with a one inch horn. They weren't crazy loud wedges, but they would get up and boogie when necessary. Matt said that motorhead's monitor guy had to put them on road cases so he could 'hear them' and preceded to cue everything at full tilt inches from his head. Apparently, several wedges died in the making of that show. I will say that by all accounts the band and crew were perfectly reasonable to deal with. But yeah, they werent kidding when they saidthey needed 850s for side fills and a drum fill...

Re: Like it's 1999...

Some years ago Motörhead played a venue here in Oslo. The company usually supplying PA at that venue used to bring in 4 MSL3 and 4 650 a side for a loud act at that time. Motörhead showed up and put in 16 MSL3 on each side....

According to a friend of mine who worked that night, it was so loud that when Lemmy started to sing, you couldn't focus your eyes properly and everything became blurry.

It's a 1300 cap club.....
