Got K&M fixed 15 degree tilters? Get thee over to Hardware Hank and buy a packet of hard nylon toilet shims. "Re-adjust" the stock angle to 10 degrees using a bench vise and a length of pipe, then drill holes the diameter of the K&M bolt in the shims. Place one above the bar and one below between the bar and the stock washer and.......PRESTO.

By rotating the shims you now have modded your tilters to set up at 5, 10 or 15 degrees with a simple adjustment requiring less than a minute.

Feel free to start the puns and "toilet humor".........

Hi Dick,

No shi* folks, this is a great idea!

For folks still puzzling on this:
) With no shims, you have a 10 degree angle.(Or you could just leave them installed and rotate them 90 degrees so no tilt added or subtracted.)
) With a shim above the bar tilting toward the front, and one below the flat bar tilting toward the back, you have a 15 degree tilt.
) Reverse the directions of the two shims above and below the flat bar and you have a 5 degree tilt.
(Dick, did I get all this right?!)

Thanks!

Good health, Weogo

For the "straight-thru", you need to remove the shims or place them both on the same side of the bar so that the bolt head/washer side and the screw-on tube are perpendicular and tighten properly. I have mine on the under side of the bar for the 10 degree tilt and "storage".

Re: Toilet shims....the answer to your problems.

Guys, in all seriousness, for less than $10 more you can have infinite angle adjustment from 0 to 15 degrees.

It's the K&M 19670

PS - even 5 degrees is too much in many cases. It's really nice to have infinite adjustment. I have 4 of the above.

Now you tell us......

Seriously, Silas, this is meant for folks who already have purchased the fixed models. OK?

Hi Silas,

I see the 19670 as a good tilter for lighter speakers.

The 19672 has the advantage of being able to move the speaker back a bit to get the speaker's weight center more over the speaker stand.

For folks using tilters - if ya can, get one speaker stand leg out front. And, as needed, weight the stands.

Thanks and good health, Weogo

And using Dick's method you will never have to put up with the possibility of a wobbly toilet at a gig again.

Actually, this reminded me of the discussion about shims in Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance
