Your emergency kit?

I know I've seen posts like this before but I can't for the life of me finding anything. I work for a small production company where I typically am out by myself running B rig, as such I usually get the left overs from A rigs emergency box which isn't always convenient. I picked up a used Pelican case knock-off, and I'm looking to put together my own kit. Any ideas of what I should add to this list, or any suggestions on the quantities of items?

- 4 XLR Male Gender Benders
- 4 XLR Female Gender Benders
- 2 NL4 Couplers
- 1 1/8" to Dual 1/4" (the ever useful iPod cable)
- 4 6' XLR-XLR
- 4 3' XLR-XLR
- 8 XLR Ys (4 M-F and 4 F-M)
- 2 3' TRS-TRS
- 1 Multi-tool
- 1 Mini Flashlight
- 2 Board Lights
- 1 Pair Headphones

Edit (already):
- Multimeter
- Outlet Tester

Bug Spray and Sun Screen during summer months.

Also, thinking about trying to find a way to tuck $20 somewhere out of site.

Any ideas?

I use a rolling pelican, and while there always is at least an adapter kit on a gig, I do bring adapters I always use such as playbak adapters, iem adapters (1/4 trs to mini female), and things that arent normally around in abundance such as nl4 turnarounds and isoblox.

The rest of the kit usually contains:
Mouthwash/alcohol wipes/paper towels for personal and microphone clenlines
Wireless router
8ch audio interface and ref mics
Rf scanner
Board tape
Half case of AA and 9v
Handfull of various Zipties
~10ft of bailing wire
Allen keyset
Multibit screwdriver
Jewlers screwdriver set
Multimeter
Voltage detector
Various snips/sidecutters/wire strippers/pliers
C wrench
Ratchet straps
Small slings/beeners
Test cds
Various collected misc adapters (bnc barrels, rca turnarounds, etc)
SPL meter
Laser distance measure
Compas
Bubble level
AC Cube taps
Various cat 5, db9, usb adapters
Handfull of ear plugs for clients/punters
Medical scrub brushes and 3" painters brush for mics, consoles

I put a fedex declaration package on the lid for small odds and ends/PD cash

Plus probably more that squeaks in thats there that I've forgotten until I need it.

Re: Your emergency kit?

Soldering iron and solder.
Band-aids
XLR phase reverse adapter
Sharpie
A couple of guitar/keyboard cords
a MIDI cable
+1 on the 3" paintbrush for dusting off the console. I usually keep one in each console case though.
Also remember one gender bender can make an XLR Y cable go the other way in a pinch.

Re: Your emergency kit?

You aren't worried about installing said adapter incorrectly or your employees or musicians installing incorrectly and hurting themselves/someone?

I can't think of many situations where it isn't an incorrect solution.

All of the stuff in my emergency kit is for my use and mine alone. I generally don't trust musicians with any voltage greater than signal level. :D~:-D~

I really hope his doesn't ignite flames and hijack a very good thread.

EDIT: As I sit here and read my post, I realize that my erroneous suggestion counts as the kind of departure from established good practices that can lead to dangerous situations. I humbly withdraw the suggestion and will edit my post to remove it.

Re: Your emergency kit?

Is a bottle of Jack Daniels acceptable for this use

But for real, this is great guys. Not sure if I could possibly fit all this stuff in the case, but it's definitely helping me to narrow down what should go and what should stay.

Make sure you have a bottle of alcohol. I've had people say they won't use one of my mics and they want to use thier's. Which I will do if its the right mic for them. I've had a few people say they have to use their POS mic, I said use mine, here's a bottle of alcohol and paper towels, if you don't use my mic, you will not be singing tonight, I'm not ruining my sound with a bad mic that you own.
