Any problem with this ?

So I have converted my amps to Lab Gruppen, and they use an L5-30 connector. Is there any issue with supplying two amps with a short (6") L14-30 to 2 L5-30 females "y" cable? My distro is 15 amp, and L14-30, so option B, would be to make an L5-30 female to L14-30 male ( leaving one hot side off) to supply the amp. I don't want to cut the stock LG connector off. Long term goal would be to purchase a motion labs rack pack, Dual L14-30 input to 4 x L5-30 outputs.
Opinions/comments please....

Re: Any problem with this ?

I'm pretty sure it's a code violation to double-lug the 2 neutral wires into the L14-30. The terminal isn't designed/listed for that application.

Re: Any problem with this ?

Well, what you're on to is "the box." It allows you to meet the Code prohibition from double-lugging by making the neutral connections (and all the others, too) as pigtails, connected with wire nuts or wired to a terminal strip. Code requires such connections to be inside a rated enclosure. You can probably build this yourself, but I have no idea what Canadian code allows so do your homework.

10-4 Tim - Thanks for the guidance, and the "spoonful of truth" (that I didn't want to hear lol). I have a guy who is an ESA inpsector that I could run this by, and yes I'll probably end up building the boxes myself or biting the bullet now for the motion labs rack pack. The drag is I have 4 x cable mount L5-30 females on the way from CBI. Oh well I'm sure I could use them somewhere down the line, or sell em off... thanks for the advice.
