What are some gift ideals you have given and will be looking for under the tree this year?


I know it’s hard, but I am trying not to ask for anything "sound" related. My main gift I want is new Goalie stick (Ice Hockey); I also have a couple things for the 4Runner and Van on my list. And last but not least, Gift Cards to wherever.

The only thing I've asked for this year is a VXi BlueParrott B250-XT+ headset.
I've grown tired of cheap Bluetooth devices that quit working after a year or so.

And using my house for spending money, I wouldn't get much of a ferrrari, maybe a ferrari tractor. :-(

I didn't imply I was working/getting paid. Much of my work as owner-operator involves things like fixing company trucks, running errands, and not sleeping much. I still want that day off :D~:-D~:grin:

In fact, I've put out quite a few posts about needing more guys for shop work on Facebook, but I have not really gotten anyone qualified to respond.

I was just messin' with ya. Agreed that a huge amount of the "work" has nothing to do with getting paid-but still needs to be done.

The little things things can really add up. And having everything in good working order-makes the "real work" much easier.

Depending on your sense of style, I suggest Stuhrling Originals. I own 2 very different models, one is a typical quartz movement chronograph and the other is a mechanical self-wind with exhibition caseback, skeletonized face and day/date/month. Realizing that gift giving oftentimes brings more satisfaction to the giver than the receiver, I suggest taking steps to make it easy on the givers... ie: Set yourself up as "someone who it's easy to buy a gift for".

I've come to an understanding of why dad traditionally gets ties for Christmas... it's because dad seemingly has a lot of ties (seemingly a tie collection), and one size fits all when it comes to ties... and ties are something that's easy to source as a gift... generally reasonably priced too... and generally there's many styles to choose from, and everything else that dad is into is "complex"... so dad gets ties for gifts (whether he has any use for any more ties or not).

I collect (and wear daily) aloha (Hawaiian) shirts (XL size)... and I'll wear pretty much any gift shirt (that's my size) till it's completely worn out... there's always an appropriate occasion regardless of the shirt.

I also collect license plates... and I have "a nice spot" to display any and all license plates I receive as gifts.

I've picked these "collectables" as an alternative to the default tie collection (and default gift idea)... I don't wear ties... don't even own one.

So do your gift giving acquaintances a break, and put a method into place where they can gift something that they can fairly easily source while thinking they put some thought into it (wide assortment to choose from and all the choices are fine), and the gift will likely be reasonably priced, and later they can feel secure that it's special to you (because it actually is)... and it's apparent to them that they didn't waste their time and money.

I'm apparently a 'hard to shop for' person. Any occasion I only ask for is to be thought of. I'm always working birthdays, anniversaries, and a days worth of travel to any family.

Since I'm so 'secluded' I donate on behalf for gifts. Heck more often I donate my wage to the fundraising event I'm working, and more times for face value, no raffles or auctions ...

Most of my family are the same way these days too ... Who needs socks/ties/sweaters you never get to wear (if your lucky) ....


But if anyone is looking, a bp&w, scubapro reg and a small pony for when (if) I can hop another intercontenental flight ....

I'm difficult to buy for. When I want something, I go and buy it so I really want for little. My mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas, she bought my sister a new washing machine, so I got her to pay for a new gear truck I was looking at to replace my aging light box. 48"L x 23"W x 24"H I believe. Castles etc. my dad bought me a really handy hand truck out of the blue when I got my new trailer. So having a nice solid light box from them was always be a nice reminder of them.

More useful than a handful of things I don't really need.




And Mark I SO wish you guys delivered to Canada. The company that makes them seems pretty good. They are in my province, the quality is up there without breaking the bank as well. I also have a case for my JCM800 head and a custom box for my snake on the way. The 2 smaller cases will fit inside the larger one for shipping.
