EV SbA-760 equivalent?

I always liked the sound of the SbA-760 for small events and wanted to find a pair, but since they're discontinued they're proving tough to find.

What other self-powered subs are out there that's going to be roughly comparable in size and output? How is the ZXA1 sub? What else should I be looking at?

Of course if there are any dealers out there that have some 760's in stock yet, I'm all ears.

Thanks,
Craig

This one puzzles me. EV should not have discontinued this product...yet. We checked out the ZXA1 sub and it sounds good, it just doesn't have the output. If they can come up with a ZXA5 Sub...that would be fantastic, and an obvious replacement for the 760. EV may have a few 760's sitting at the factory, and every now and then they come up on the re-pack list. I'll PM you if either is the case. Intellasound is in your backyard, they are a large EV house. You may want to give them a ring as well.

I agree. However, there was (IMHO) a manufacturing defect that was cropping up that may have been causing them a headache: There is a slot-mounted hardboard panel fitted behind the amp module that should have been sealed in place, and in about a quarter of the 760s I have in rental this panel was loose in the slot and leaking air. I was having a problem with blown 15s and every one of them occurred in the 760s that were not sealed.

Also probably didn't help the brand appearance that the cheap fabric backing the grill fell loose after about 15 hours of use.

Mine are not for sale, BTW.

Interesting Milt. I've had a 15" failure in one of my four SbA760s. E-V repaired it under warranty, but didn't mention anything about leaky cabinets. Can you find the leak by removing the amp module, or by pulling the driver?

The amp module. You should see a bead of black silicone holding the panel in position. It doesn't actually fall out without the silicone as it is fitted into a slot along its two long sides. We discovered the problem because we could hear the air leaking loudly into the amp module space on only certain boxes in our inventory.

I have photos at my office. I'll attempt to remember to post one later.

Wondering what the solution is.

I too ave the same issue and need to know the steps to fix or send it to repair shop.

Thank you,
