padding for cases

Re: padding for cases

In the Phoam Book Yellow Pages. ;)

How much do you need? For small orders any of the case hardware suppliers will probably do.

We usually work on cases in big batches and order a whole bunch of foam from a local producer. If we can find it here in Kansas, you can probably find it 5X in Georgia...

Yellow Pages?? Whats that?
Just one case for now, I have an old master woodworker (aka-dad) who came in town for his first few weeks of retirement and he has already cut up our kitchen table, made a bed I'm pretty worried he is going to start on the walls of our rental house if i dont find him something to do quick.

I found a number of good options for small amounts by Google.

Unfortunately, none of the companies would tell me what type of foam they planned to use for packing my order for shipping. I certainly did not want my foam damaged in shipping.

Re: padding for cases

I went to a foam mattress place to ask about it. When I mentioned it was for some roadcase, he opened a drawer and had 3 samples of grey typical case foam. 3 different densities. It would have been pricy ($250ish if I recall) to buy a cube the size of the trunk (24"x24"x48" approx) so instead he said figure out what I need for smaller pieces instead.

Working on that now. Much better idea.
