bad install

Re: bad install

There is also such a thing as a locking STEEL caribiner. We used to use those when rigging speakers all the time. These were very much NOT climbing gear. in fact, they were the recommended device straight from our good friends at ATM. Their weight rating was something ridiculous that i can't recall, but we suspended KF850's 4 and 5 deep off them routinely and we were never ones to cut corners, so i suspect their rating was well over 2000 pounds with a 5:1 safety ratio. probably enough to hold up this speaker.

Now, is that 'biner STEEL? got me. But they do exist....

That is in fact one of those which you refer to. (The type from ATM used at the top of a column of 850's.) I got close enough later in the bucket-lift to see it but was wrangling a projector and didn't have time for pictures. (So we are stuck with a zoomed-in iphone shot in low-lighting)

Re: bad install

1. There is nothing wrong with the hang per se. That single beam clamp plate and pear ring looks like a piece from ATM (or something similar). There is nothing wrong with the cable. That box weighs in around 50lbs. Come on.
2. The VRX is not a line array box. It is more or less a high q box on it's side. It functions very well providing a very narrow vertical and 90 degree horizontal. Don't judge until you have tried it. It works for balcony fills as well.
3. I would do something a bit different since it is in a gym and that looks like it could swing when hit by a ball.

Re: bad install

Thank goodness there's something wrong with this picture. It'll be a sad day when somebody posts some install that no one here can find fault with.
