I grew up mixing on Soundcraft 200, 400, and 500 mixers back in the day. I share your love for the way they look, feel, and sound. It's easy to pick on them nowadays, but in their era they did what they were supposed to do, and did it very well.
You should buy the 16 channel to keep for spare parts when you finally get your 24 channel...

I sometimes long for my first audio console, then I remember it was a Yamaha MC2402 with some JBL 712 Comps and a SPX90.
Still like the SPX90 though, actually had a engineer complain recently that I brought an MPX1 instead of the SPX for pitch shifting.
